The 2018 Ferrari Portofino will bow at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a new entry level model at the Italian sports car maker, replacing the current California T in the lineup. Named after a Mediterranean seaside town in Northern Italy, the Portofinio is a front-engine rear-drive roadster with a retractable hardtop similar in design and layout to the California.

Powered by a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8, the Portofino produces 592 horsepower and 560 lb ft of torque, which capable of propelling the car to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds on the way to a top speed of 198 mph. That engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The all-new Ferrari Portofino takes advantage of the latest weight saving technology while also increasing the car’s torsional rigidity.

    Electric power steering

Among the new features on the car is a third generation electronic rear differential which has been adapted to Ferrari’s F1-trac traction and stability control system. The Portofino is also the first Ferrari ever fitted with electric power steering. And the dual coil suspension is teamed with magnetorheological shock absorbs for a dynamic, responsive handling without sacrificing ride comfort.
